Hold Your Frogs — Privacy Policy

Effective: 1 October 2026

This policy describes the data processed by the ranked leaderboard service of Hold Your Frogs (Steam App ID 5340460). Solo and local match data are not uploaded. Opening the profile, leaderboard or this policy still connects to our service.

What we collect

• SteamID64 — your public Steam account number, used to verify your identity through Steam's authentication ticket and to identify you on the leaderboard.
• Match data — the SteamIDs of the players in the match, the match seed, both sides' skill loadouts and the per-frame button input record. The server replays the whole match from it to verify the result and compute ratings; clients cannot report a winner.
• Match events — when a ranked match is left, disconnected or superseded by a new match, we record which player, the event type and the time, to resolve unfinished matches and abuse.
• Ratings and records — rating and win/loss/draw counts per mode and season, shown publicly on the in-game leaderboard (keyed by SteamID; display names are looked up by each player's Steam client).
• IP address — used only for abuse rate limiting (one-minute rate-limit window; expired entries are removed on the next rate-limited request) and in web server security logs (checked daily for rotation, retaining the latest 14 non-empty archives; at low traffic this may exceed 14 days).

We do not collect your name, e-mail, payment details, friends list, chat or location from the game. If you email support, we use your address and message to handle your request. Steam display names are not stored on our servers.

Data stored on your PC

Settings, key bindings, saved loadouts, recent local match history and local achievement progress are stored on your PC. Loadouts used in ranked matches are uploaded with match data. Retail achievements are synchronised to your Steam account by Steam. Playtest achievement progress remains local and does not call the Steam achievement API.

Steam and other players

Online matches connect through Valve's Steam network, including Steam Datagram Relay; Valve's privacy policy applies to Steam. Other players in the same match can see your Steam account through Steam.

Retention

• Login sessions expire after 2 hours.
• Ratings, records and match data are kept while the leaderboard service operates, for ranking and dispute handling.
• Database backups are taken daily and retain the latest 30 copies.

Steam Playtest data

Steam Playtest uses a separate Playtest App ID. Playtest ratings and rankings are stored only on the staging server and will be reset before launch; they do not transfer to the retail leaderboard. A recovery-only backup is made before reset and subject to the daily backup policy retaining the latest 30 copies. Bans are retained.

Your rights

You may ask to access or delete your ranked data. Deletion removes you from the leaderboard and replaces your SteamID with a random alias in shared match records. Bans are retained to prevent evasion. Existing backups retain up to 30 copies; deletion requests must be reapplied after a restore. Playing ranked again creates new records.
